Miss Chanel Gounden holds a Civil Engineering Diploma from the Durban University of Technology, and is registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa. She served her internship with Stedone Civils (Pty) Ltd. as a Civil Engineering Technician. Later she became a Junior Civil Site Manager overseeing a number of successful projects. She gained most of her experience in the low cost housing sector. Her responsibilities included:

• Site establishment,
• Labour and plant supervision,
• Costing and programmes,
• Payment certificates, and
• Construction supervision.

She now works for Linda Masinga & Associates (LMA) as a Project Manager and her duties at LMA include Housing Development, Project Facilitation, and liaising with various stakeholders in the Housing Sector, for the following projects:

• Quarry Heights Housing Rectification Project;
• Madlebe Rural Housing Project;
• Mombeni Rural Housing Project;
• Edendale Bulwer Housing Project;
• J2 Quarry Housing Project and
• Dodoma Kennedy Road Housing Project.
